Simon known for his skills and being patience in breaking young and problem horses, by listening to the horse by them letting him know when they are ready for the next stage, off breaking and problem solving the issue. This all started at the age of 15, when he decided to leave school and take up an apprenticeship in a breaking and pre- training yard for Kevin Roberts, where they broke in Mick Channon an Allen Ball’s horses to name a few. Upon completing his apprenticeship, Simon decided that he wanted to get more involved in Horse Racing, he took on a position as a stable lad with Ken Cunningham Brown’s Stables, as time went on he moved to the position of travelling head lad for the stable which involved travelling all over the UK, 6 years later he decided to join Wardall Bloodstock as quarantine manager where he then got the opportunity to travel horses worldwide, his first trip being a boat job to Barbados for two weeks at Sea with three racehorses. After four years with Wardall Bloodstock, Darley Stud Management approached Simon and he was offered the position to join their Dubai operations as flying groom travelling horses all over the world, including travelling to Dubai 3 times a week, which he did for a period of about 10 years.
Simon set up his pre-training and breaking yard 8 years ago near Salisbury, using all of his knowledge and new skills on his journey to running his own yard, which him and his partner run together. The yard offers a number of different services from foaling down to sales. Both Simon and Hannah look forward to meeting new/old trainers and owners.
Feel free to contact Simon where he will be happy to discuss your horse’s individual needs.
